Full Stack Developer (full or part time)

Minibems is an IOT company recruiting for a full stack web developer with at least four years experience. The role will involve refining the Minibems web app which allows users to remotely monitor and control heating system equipment using our online dashboards.

We are looking for a self-starter willing to provide second line support and learn a variety of new skills with the ability to manage their own tasks/ workload and contribute to strategic decision making.

Minibems is a young IOT start-up that integrates traditional heating systems with embedded computing and the cloud to reduce carbon emissions and financial costs.


Develop and improve the user interface of the Minibems web app.

Collaborate with embedded systems developers to build new functionality into the Minibems software offering. This will require the integration of our embedded software, an online server and database and the Minibems web application.


We would be looking for a candidate willing to take on responsibility within our web developer team and begin managing key work packages immediately. The successful candidate will be required to provide second line support (no prior support experience is required).

As the candidate develops their skillset and becomes immersed in the project and team it will be expected for them to start contributing to strategic decisions in regards to product development.


Dependant upon experience.


– 20 days a year annual leave

– Additional annual leave (up to a maximum of 25 days/ year)

Working week

The full time role will involve 37.5 hours a week in the Minibems office spread over 5 days. The core hours are 10am – 4pm.

A part time role (minimum 3 days a week, 22.5 hours per week) can be negotiated for the right candidate.

Minibems is an exciting start-up poised to disrupt a number of established industries.

We develop software to control and monitor large heating systems with the aim of reducing costs, carbon emissions and increasing the ease of installation and operation of complex heating systems. This is achieved through embedded controllers providing real-time control and monitoring of equipment throughout the heat network. The controllers are connected to our web app through the cloud which provides remote real-time monitoring and control.

Skills required

Essential skills/ Experience

– Four-plus years commercial full stack experience.

– Experience writing front end code in HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

– Experienced in Linux scripting, cloud computing, web server and database management, PHP.

– Experienced in version control.

– Ability to easily communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience.

– Managed amazon web servers.

Bonus skills/ Experience

– Providing second line support.

– Yii 2.0.

– Java.

– Single-board computers, e.g. Raspberry Pi, BeagleBoard, Arduino.

Personal qualities

Ability to work in a fast paced working environment where priorities and strategy can change quickly as a result of market feedback.

Required: Team player, self-starter, strategic thinker.

Beneficial: Commercially and business minded.
